ProfileI am a qualified secondary teacher of Art, Design and Media and ICT, and an experienced specialist therapeutic education provider for traumatised and vulnerable young people and those with autistic spectrum condition (11-17 years) with highly complex and challenging social, mental, emotional and health needs as well as children with moderate to severe learning needs including non-verbal communicators.
With nearly fifteen years teaching experience I have taught all ages (from Reception, Infants’ and Juniors’ (ages 5-11) up to Secondary and Post-16) and have conducted creative workshops, teacher training and supported educational and development programmes in several African countries. I began working in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2008, initially as an educational practitioner, and subsequently monitoring and evaluating, and supporting the implementation of various educational and international development projects. My voluntary experience has revolved around teaching and youth work with disaffected and vulnerable young people in the UK and abroad, and advising refugee and asylum-seekers in the UK. I was recently awarded a distinction for my Masters’ in Education and International Development with the Institute of Education, University of London, focusing on education in post-conflict and fragile states. I am proficient in most creative disciplines and employ a rich variety of methods to inspire, challenge and teach in my capacity as a trainer and mentor. |
